With our training program, you and your staff learn the skills and knowledge needed to provide guests with the level of food quality and warm service with a smile they expect when visiting Captain D’s.

“Captain D’s operates in a unique space when compared to other restaurants,” says Nancy Ward, Assistant Vice President of Training. “That’s why we’ve created a national network of certified training restaurants, where new franchise owners can learn best practices for operating thriving Captain D’s restaurants.”

With more than 500 restaurants in 21 states, Captain D’s high quality products, warm hospitality and unwavering commitment to innovation have driven our seafood franchise to the top of the QSR 50. The chain set average unit volume records each year from 2012 – 2016, and we’ve posted 21 consecutive quarters of same-store sales growth. A legacy brand with an iconic identity and a multi-generational customer base, Captain D’s newly designed restaurants and innovative menu additions continue to drive a sales boom and attract new legions of loyal customers every day.

From day one, Captain D’s skilled training and support teams are there. Here are just a few of the ways you and your staff benefit from our industry-leading training and support.

Comprehensive training begins before you open

Running a seafood franchise restaurant is unlike any other fast food operation, and our training programs are designed to give you the skills you and your team need to grow your business. The training starts before you open, with extensive training at one of our national certified training restaurants (NCTRs).

“On-the-job training is a vital component of our process, which is why new franchisees spend time in one of our corporate-owned training restaurants,” Nancy says. “They have an opportunity to learn from managers who have a deep understanding of how Captain D’s works.”

Whether it’s familiarizing you and your staff with the recipes and cooking techniques or teaching the ins and outs of our point-of-sale and reporting systems, Captain D’s training facilities provide you with the hands-on experience you need to leave ready and excited for your grand opening.

Training your staff preps you for your grand opening

Following training at our NCTRs, our corporate training team travels to your store. Throughout the week before the grand opening, our trainers prepare your staff for the big day, giving them vital skills and encouragement, and demonstrating all of the processes they’ll follow once the doors are open.

“The on-site training is an important component of our training program,” Nancy says. “We’ve created the curriculum to ensure the franchise owner and new staff are able to not only follow the processes, but are also able to train new employees.”

By thoroughly training franchisees and their staff, our crew helps ensure that you are in the position to take on new employees and get them up to speed as your business grows.

Ongoing support is backed by an extensive franchisee network

After the grand opening, we still provide support and will be available to answer questions or provide supplemental training. Through ongoing training and refinements, we work to make sure you are always at the forefront of best practices, and that resources are available for any answers you may need.

“It’s not just printed materials and online training modules,” Nancy says. “We’re there to answer questions, and our existing franchise owners are valuable resources for those who are new to the network and have questions about how to accomplish their goals.”

Bringing Captain D’s to your community isn’t just about opening a seafood restaurant. It’s about joining a community of seasoned, thriving restaurateurs who believe in our product and our brand. With more than 500 restaurants in operation today, Captain D’s has perfected the seafood franchise, making now more than ever a great time to consider joining Captain D’s.
