How Captain D’s Keeps Reeling In Top Honors

Crab Lovers Meal

Franchise Owners love  Captain D’s—and so do some of the most respected industry publications. We’re thrilled to announce we’ve landed at spot #145 on this year’s Franchise Times Top 200+ list, and we couldn’t have done it without the hard work and can-do attitude of our Franchise Owners and their employees.

Franchise Times Top 200

We Reel In A Stellar Performance

Captain D’s has persevered despite the challenges posed by operating a restaurant franchise during COVID-19. According to the Franchise Times, “…franchising’s strongest brands gained strength(and) emerging hot brands kept bringing the heat,” and we are proud that our growth continues despite lockdown restrictions and uncertain markets.  Franchise Times noted that “In all, the top-ranking 200 brands grew sales by 4.5 percent, a whopping $30.1 billion, for a grand total of $702.9 billion.” That’s even up from last year, which saw 4.2% growth by the top 200.

Another Great Catch

And on top of our win with Franchise Times, we scored another accolade from Franchise Business Review. Our delicious seafood, great service and strong performance got us ranked as a Top Food Franchise for 2020 by FBR—a list that features 35 franchises that are outperforming their competitors and franchisees’ expectations. It’s recognition like this that sparks our drive to succeed—and makes us one of the best seafood franchises to own.

Captain D’s  Pivots To Win It

Even before the pandemic hit, our corporate team was ahead of the curve, using innovative technology and out-of-the-box thinking to reach more customers with our high-quality seafood menu. Using data that told us 70% of our business was drive-thru and carryout, we leaned into streamlining operations to better reflect consumer demand in the fast-casual franchise arena.

The Rightsized Restaurant Franchise For The Times

We rolled out smaller footprint prototypes that took advantage of unique real estate opportunities in strategic locations. Our current owners love the smaller 22-seat Captain D’s that offers the opportunity for a more affordable build-outs and requires less acreage.  With flexible sizes, lower start-up costs and streamlined franchising processes, new Franchise Owners are able to expand their portfolio with even more locations.

An Owner-Approved Business Model

Since 50% of our stores are corporate owned, we are serious about constantly improving processes and operations to fuel success for our Franchise Owners.

It’s our ability to adapt to meet changing demand, as well as the skills and commitment of our dedicated Franchise Owners who drive our $1.5M AUV*. And you don’t have to take our word for it. Multi-unit Franchise Owner Sajib Singha sang the praises of our business model and highly recommends Captain D’s to other multi-unit Franchise Owners looking for a smart fast-casual franchise investment. He says that our fresh menu options—including grilled fish— are “great meals on a budget” and “a great situation for right now during the pandemic – affordable and healthy.”

Outstanding Franchise Restaurant Owner Support

Singha went on to say that “From a business perspective, fast food does make a good return on investment, if you find the right location.” With our flexible prototypes and strong owner support,  Captain D’s team can help you find and open the right location in the right market. We’re casting a wide net, and territories are going fast.
